Get inked on the Torq tattoo bus
What's the play
Park a working tattoo bus at your trade show booth. Real artists, real permanent ink, a short menu of pre-set flash designs people pick from. The offer is wild enough that a line forms on its own, the line becomes the spectacle, and people start planning their day around sitting in the chair.
What was the alternative?
A branded lounge with swag, a coffee bar, and a wall of tote bags, like every other booth on the floor.

Torq parked a working tattoo bus outside Booth #527 and gave out 155 tattoos over two days at RSAC 2026, almost all of them real and permanent. The line wrapped around the bus both days, and some attendees said they had planned their RSAC schedule around getting in the chair. One called it the highlight of the conference. Torq paired the bus with a 20-foot inflatable skeleton, pre-booked more than a hundred meetings with sales before the show, and tracked impact through pipeline and social. On LinkedIn, Torq added more than 1,000 followers in three days, and the booth got written up across the event marketing trade press.
Would you run it again?
Yes. Torq called it a standout and is already asking how to go even bigger at RSAC 2027.
Steps
- 1
Pick a hook loud enough to cut through
Start from the reality that big shows are a cognitive attack with hundreds of vendors fighting for the same attention. Choose one bold, slightly absurd idea people cannot walk past.
- 2
Book the bus and real artists
Rent a tattoo bus or truck and hire licensed tattoo artists for the run of the show. This is the centerpiece, so it has to actually work, not just look the part.
- 3
Lock a small set of flash designs
Offer pre-set flash only, no customizations, and slip in a few branded options like your mascot or logo. Fewer choices means a faster line and more ink on more people.
- 4
Set clear rules and hours
Make it 18+, walk-ins, first come first served, with fixed daily hours. Post the rules everywhere so nobody argues at the chair.
- 5
Add a giant visual anchor
Pair the bus with one oversized prop people can see from across the floor so foot traffic stops before they even know what is happening.
- 6
Pre-book meetings with sales
Build the activation with your sales team and line up as many pre-set meetings as you can before the doors open. The stunt fills the top of the funnel, the meetings move it.
- 7
Work the line
Staff the queue with people who can talk product while attendees wait their turn. A long line is free attention, so use it.
- 8
Film it and post daily
Capture the bus, the line, and reactions, then post every day of the show. Most of the reach comes from people who never made it to your booth.
Notes
Permanent ink is a real commitment, so keep it strictly 18+, walk-ins only, and offer a small set of pre-set flash designs with no customizations. That keeps the artists fast and the line moving. Use licensed tattoo artists and sort out consent and liability paperwork before day one. Mix in a few branded designs like your mascot or logo so some people walk out wearing your brand forever. The line itself is the marketing, so staff it with people who can talk product while attendees wait. One catch worth planning for: a stunt this loud gets remembered as the stunt, so make sure every conversation can pivot back to what you actually sell.
